Sasuke Choke Edits, also known as Choking Sasuke, Strangling Sasuke and Sasuke Being Choked, refers to an exploitable image from Naruto: Shippūdenanime series in which character Sasuke Uchiha is being held by the neck by his brother Itachi Uchiha. In January 2019, image combinations and photoshopped images in which Sasuke appears being chocked by various individuals gained popularity on Twitter, bearing many similarities to the Monkey Haircut and Dog Petting memes.

Origin

On May 26th, 2004, the 85th episode of Naruto anime series „Hate Among the Uchihas: The Last of the Clan!” premiered in Japan.^[1] In one scene, Itachi Uchiha pushes his brother Sasuke against the wall, holding him by the neck and accusing him of being weak. On April 19, 2012, the redrawn scene appeared as a flashback in the 259th episode „Rift” of Naruto: Shippūden series.

On January 13th, 2019, Twitter^[3] user @kirikocult posted two images which, combined, produced an image of Sasuke being choked by a cat. The tweet gained over 9,900 retweets and 19,500 likes in three days.

On January 14th, Twitter users @glossjeons^[4] and @shotodorkis^[5] posted tweets in which Sasuke appeared to be choked by South Korean rapper J-Hope and anime character Sakura Haruno. The posts gained over 12,000 and 4,900 retweets in two days, respectively.
